SCUBA DIVING AND DEEP SEA FISHING |
Don’t forget your snorkels as dolphins or whale sharks might also be in the vicinity. With so many other reefs to explore, we can assure you of a unique diving experience! |
 |
SCUBA DIVING
Planet Scuba’s aim is to put the pleasure back into diving, by making diving as effortless as possible.
No gear to carry, or boats to load! You and your equipment are transported to and from the beach, your gear is washed by our staff, and cylinders filled ready for the next dive.
Emphasis is placed on diving safety.
Planet Scuba offers diving excursions to multiple reefs that teem with marine life.
Visit Bass City for encounters with the friendly resident Potato Bass… or Pinnacles for our more advanced divers, for adrenalin-filled encounters with Hammerhead and Zambezi sharks.

ABOUT PONTA |
 |
The quaint little town of Ponta do Ouro is situated in Southern Mozambique just 10 km from the South African border. The hustle & bustle of development, such as houses being restored to their former glory coupled with a good dose of laid back charm are what make this such an unforgettable destination.
In Ponta do Ouro you will be sure to find beautiful white beaches, dense dune forests, amazing diving and an ever-stretching azure sea. A very traditional open air market, several baraccas (little
shops) and eager curio sellers will quench your thirst for shopping before you make your way to
one of the rustic restaurants in town.
The coastline from Ponta do Ouro to Inhaca Island is saturated with the most beautiful and pristine
hard and soft coral reefs, home to a bewildering variety of game and reef fish, turtles dolphins,
whales, sharks and rays. Unlike the coral reefs in South Africa, most of these reefs have remained untouched for nearly 2 decades during the civil war. This again provides an ideal ecosystem for
scuba divers and snorkelers alike.
The terrain consists of long and uninterrupted stretches of white sand beaches, high primary sand
dunes, coastal forests, inland flood plains and numerous lakes and accompanying marshlands,
making it an ideal playground for 4X4 vehicle/ biking and hiking enthusiasts

THINGS TO DO IN PONTA |
- Diving (which, of course, is what Ponta do Ouro is known for).
- 4X4 Scenic Route - go for a drive through the dense pristine dune forest, enjoying the bird life, on soft sand tracks - don't underestimate the challenges that this route offers you.
- A walk along the beach might bring you face to face with a turtle laying her eggs (from October - December).
- Dolphin or Whale Shark search - once found you will be able to swim with these
magnificent creatures.
- Maputo Elephant Reserve is some 50km north of Ponta Do Ouro - the Elephants are very shy. There are also Duiker and other small antelope.
- Deep sea fishing - catch the big one. Use your own boat or make use of a fishing charter.
Get your license from the maritime office in town.
- Enjoy a tasty meal at one of Ponta’s restaurants or watch the sunset with a cocktail in
hand. Please remember that not many restaurants accept credit cards and it is recommended that you take a sufficient amount of cash along. There is no bank in Ponta
